Reclaiming energy

Our pioneering thermal energy plant generates
heat from waste to power our tanneries.

We are signatories to the UN Global Compact and we measure our performance against the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Reclaiming energy is part of our effort under Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy.

Our patented thermal process converts our waste streams into heat, which powers our tanneries, radically reducing our carbon footprint.

Our thermal energy plant generates enough energy to heat a small town: 15,000 MWh of energy per year for our facilities and an additional 12,000 MWh as oil.

Our performance is independently audited to the UK Climate Change Agreement. Since 2017 we buy 100% of our electricity from certified renewable and carbon neutral wind sources (100% REGO).

This commitment to clean energy has dramatically reduced the carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) of our leather. We provide electric vehicle charging points for staff and visitors in our car parks and our fleet vehicles are all electric.

We purchase 100% of our electricity from renewable sources.
